Our Story

Built by parents, for parents

We started BabyTalk because we were scribbling words on scraps of paper and thought that there has to be a better way.

We wanted something simple to track what our kid was saying, see how they were doing, and share it with the people who love them most.

There wasn’t anything out there. So we built it.

BabyTalk is made by parents, for parents, to celebrate the little words that mean everything.

No! You can save your data locally on your device. If you’d like to see your data across devices, or share it with caregivers, then you can sign up for an account.

You can use BabyTalk however you best see fit. If you’re looking for some guidance however, a child is considered to “know” a word if they can say it:

  1. Consistently;:Using the same word more than once
  2. On their own: without copying you
  3. With meaning: using the word on purpose

Yes! That is one of the main reasons we built BabyTalk. Just write the word in the language you want, and the app automatically tags the language for you & categorizes it as well. Then you’ll see the child’s stats based on different languages.

For sure, you can disable or enable it in the child’s profile. BabyTalk is meant to be a fun way to track your toddler’s words, so not every parent finds it helpful to see percentile comparisons.

Creating an account is optional on BabyTalk. Additionally, if you optionally choose to customize your child’s profile with a photo, we never upload it online. This means that if you have collaborators on your child’s profile, they each get to upload their own photo.

Short answer is that funds from paid features go into for my son’s blueberry fund. Long answer is that the paid features depend on cloud servers, which are not free.
